While searching for a particular book on fathers’ book shelf, I caught hold of an old book. This book written by D. B. Gurung, titled “Nepal Negotiating a Path through Quagmire”. I didn’t go through this book, but the title made me think for a while.
There is no constitution in our country. We gave votes to the 601 members to make the new constitution of the new Democratic Republic of Nepal, now a secular country too. Yet, politicians still fight over for the post of PM. Look what happened after Jhalanath resigned, Bhattarai and Deuba are up to be the new PM. I thought this was supposed to be an interim government, whose sole duty is just to make new constitution. I mean how hard can it be, when there’s 601 member??? But as the ol’ sayin goes “too many cooks spoils the broth” can be used here, don’t ya think??
Aama, a few years back, thought that after the Maoists came to the government, things would change a bit. Alas! Things are still the way it used to be. May be the prices of commodities have gone up, pitched road got new holes, new tall buildings be set up….but the political scenario still remains the same. And now she thinks all the political parties are the same, don’t trust anyone. No wonder she ignores the news and watches Hindi soap operas!!
And I think everyone has heard of the latest scam…selling of antique weapons for the price of peanuts. That news has shocked many people. Bhusan Dahal exposed everything to the public through his show “Fireside”. Imagine, that the then King being involved. Kings of Nepal are believed to be God Bhisnus’ avatar right? So how could a avatar of ‘God’ himself allow such historical antiques to be sold? Even Girija Pr. Koirala, who was hailed as a prominent politician…now that’s shocking!! This scam would have gone unnoticed, thanks to some alertness shown by Bhusan Dahal. But what if no one ever found about it?? If the illegal selling of such antiques went unnoticed, involving such people who look after our country…then may be we won’t realize even if our own country is sold to someone. First the Sudan scam now this..we are getting quite famous for having scams aren’t we?
And this banda has made life cripple in Kathmandu city. Yes, people have their own private vehicles, but most of us depend on the public transport. And today, the transport groups and people advertise to call a strike. On Wednesday, after their hour strike was called off….woah the jam!!! From ratnapark to baneshwor….1 hr!!! and then there was the heat..made matters worse!! Wished it would rain then as it is raining right now.
Now as I am reviewing my writing, the news says the bandas’ been called off. Chaos on the house!! HAHA!!! My sister hurriedly woke up, got ready for school and went. Think she’s going to be hungry, had half her breakfast. And Aama…normally she’s always worried..imagine what happened to her this morning..she was like yelling my sister to wake up, she made breakfast, made her shoes ready and everything else. Sometimes I wonder what I’ll do without aama around. Thanks for all the support she’s given us until now. Love you aama!!
Hope our country has a mother, father or anyone who’ll support us and make a path for us through this quagmire. Is there anyone out there to help our country?
